Linda Eldredge, Ed.D., Psychologist

|

Linda
Eldredge, Ed.D., is a licensed psychologist with a
full-time private practice. She offers outpatient
individual, couples, and family therapy to adults and
older adolescents. Dr. Eldredge addresses issues such as
relationships, stress, depression, anxiety, communication
difficulties, job stress, spirituality, sexual
orientation, disabilities, and coping with verbal,
emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. In addition to
serving the general population, she works with people who
are Deaf, Hard of
Hearing, Late-Deafened,
Deaf-Blind, or who have one or more disabilities. Dr.
Eldredge is a Hearing person who is fluent in both
American Sign Language (ASL) and Signed English.
Clients may address spiritual
issues with Dr. Eldredge if they wish. She can help them
to clarify the spiritual path of their choice. Her own
spiritual path involves a blend of Christian-based Creation
Spirituality that includes intuitive energy work, Native
American spirituality, ceremonies, and Buddhism. Dr. Eldredge has
worked with a Metis (French word meaning mixed blood)
Native American healer in her own journey of personal
growth. She respects people of all faiths and creeds and
people with no spiritual belief.
Her private practice includes therapy
through a contract with the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). Dr. Eldredge is available
to present seminars on Mental Health and Deafness,
Verbal Self-Defense Skills, spirituality and mental health, and other relevant
topics. She has taught Verbal Self-Defense Skills through
the University of Texas Informal Classes.
Dr. Eldredge is a member of the
American Psychological Association,
American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association, and
International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and
Energy Medicine.
Dr. Eldredge received a B.S. in
Behavioral Sciences from Howard Payne University. At
Texas Woman's University, she obtained an M.A. in
Communication Science - Deaf Education. She earned her
Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology from Baylor
University. Dr. Eldredge became a licensed psychologist
in 1991. She is also a Level I Verbal Self-Defense Trainer, an
All-Level Teacher of the Hearing Impaired, a Certified
School Counselor, and a Certified Special Education School
Counselor.
Dr. Eldredge worked as an educator and
interpreter of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired, and
contracted as a school counselor/consultant for the Deaf
in Waco. She served as the Regional Alcohol and Drug
Abuse Services Director for a six-county area in Central
Texas. In Houston, Dr. Eldredge was a psychotherapist and
then a licensed psychologist in private practice for
several years. For two years, she was the half-time
psychologist at Texas School for the Deaf working with
high-risk students, and she also had a limited private
practice in Austin. She has been in full-time private
practice in Austin since 1995.
